Hello and welcome to Turkey Creek K9! We are an ethical bernedooodle breeder located in rural Hudson Indiana on our beautiful 12 acre homestead that serves the Chicago area. We think it’s important to raise happy, healthy puppies, and find them their perfect forever homes.
We have worked hard to develop a program that focuses on our dogs health, temperaments, and variety of beautiful colors. Raising our puppies on our homestead gives them the opportunity to learn to be a dog by seeing, smelling, and hearing a huge variety of things, and giving them the best start to their lives.

Steps to Adopt A Bernedoodle Puppy in Chicago, Illinois
1. Application & Interview
The best way to get a future puppy from us is to be on our notification list.
We do not like having a long list of families waiting on a puppy, so we ask if you are interested on being on our notification list, you fill out an application and are ready to adopt within the next 6-9 months.
2. Submit a Deposit
Deposits are $500. We start collecting deposits when puppies are at least 4 weeks old.
3. Puppy Selections
Like deposits, we do not start doing puppy selections until puppies are AT LEAST four weeks old, sometimes later, depending on circumstances. Because we try to keep a shorter list we occasionally have puppies available, after our list families have chosen their puppies. When this happens they will be posted here under Available Puppies. They are available to adopt now without a wait.
4. Puppy Pickup
It’s pickup day (or transportation day)! Fill out your health guarantee form before you come and get ready to sign it during pickup. Also don’t forget to check out our Go-Home page for more information on what else you may need before you bring puppy home.

Yes, we want to breed the healthiest puppies possible and that starts with happy healthy parents! All of our parents are health tested or in the process of completing all their health testing. We do genetic testing as well as OFA’s.

While it is impossible to fully predict the adult size of our puppies, we do our best to give you our best estimate! Many breeders have different size descriptions and standards. Having said that, here is ours at TurkeyCreek-K9…
- Petite Doodles: 25 lbs or less, and around 14 inches tall or less
- Mini Doodles: 26-35 Ibs and 14-17 inches tall
- Medium Doodles: 36-50 Ibs and 17-21 inches tall
- Standard Doodles: 51-70 Ibs and 22 inches or taller

There are four different coat types Doodles can have. The spectrum ranges from the least curly to curliest as follows:
- Flat Coat– No curl & no furnishings on the face.
- Straight Coat– No Curl with furnished face
- Wavy Coat-Wavy Hair and face furnishings
- Curly Coat-Overall curly coat and curly face
An F1 Generation is a purebred Bernese Mountain Dog or a Golden Retreiver bred to a purebred Poodle. An F2 is F1’s bred together. An F1b is an F1 bred back to either purebred foundation breed, but is most commonly bred back to a Poodle. A multigeneration is any two Doodles bred together (unless they are both F1’s).
While we can not guarantee the shedding qualities of each individual puppy, we breed for quality and generally low to no shedding.
Our puppies are started on potty training with a litter box at 5 weeks old and they will also know how to use a doggy door to go outside to potty, by the time they go home.
